My name is Carmen, I'm 24 years old and I'm from Spain. This is the first time that I have to face an experience like this.
I'm currently taking part in EVS project as English teacher in India. When I received this announcement I really felt like the happiest person in the world because I have been waiting for this kind of experience for a long time. Since the first moment that I knew that India would be my destination, I thougth that it would be a perfect place to lose all prejudices I could offer me. Now that I'm here, I really agree with this mindset.
It is a very enriching experience which is improving some aspects of my personality, such as learning how to be more patient o how to face up all the responsabilities that this kind of project comes with.
Working in a school as a volunteer has helped me a lot as a person.
I think this experience should be a compulsory subject for everybody! Many people don't dare to try it.
I'm here to tell you: Do not be afraid! Just do it! It opens up your mind to other cultures, to other ways os thinking.
Everything would be better if everyone were a volunteer at least once in their lifetime!
