I think that volunteering can change lives. May not always change other lives than the ones of the volunteers themselves (this depends on many, many factors), but it surely has a great potential. This thought it’s clearly shared by many people, but this time few of them, coming from different countries (even different continents, actually), have met up and planned a big project, which will hopefully change many lives through volunteering. Five associations have sent their members to Tepoztlán, México, in order to attend the Kick Off Meeting of the Happy 2.0 project, hosted by AMVIAC in collaboration with the stunning Villa Xochiquetzal and its staff members. The main point of the overall project I would say that can be resumed in try to give an opportunity to those young people who need it, who want to improve their skills and better understand the world that surrounds them while supporting others in their everyday battles and challenges. As the youngsters that will participate in our EVS projects and in the training course for youth workers and volunteers, we went with a shape and came back with another. While working together, the group of representatives got to know each others, and the people behind the name of the organization. That’s where cooperation starts, and intercultural understanding lies. By trying to set up a system that will support our participants we exchanged ideas and point of views, shared beautiful walks and tasty meals together. Finally we met each other, and it’s only the beginning of this long journey through volunteering, participation and happiness.
