Benefits of the job shadowing in Kenya
Between June 20th and July 11th, I have joined the team of CADIF Kenya in Kisumu. It has been a beautiful adventure, full of discoveries and learning.
CADIF is an organisation working in the fields of education and sustainable development, working closely with youngsters by giving them the opportunity to start again studies within the frame of Vocational Education Training (especially for young girls).
After a first overview of the activities led by CADIF, I have had the opportunity to share what we were doing in Pistes-Solidaires, especially in the field of volunteering.
While I was in Kisumu, the French Embassy in Kenya had published a call for proposals to which CADIF could apply. Thus, we have worked on it together and share our skills in terms of project writing and project management. It has been really enthralling for me.
We have prepared and led a workshop together on the topic of leadership in a school. I have therefore had the opportunity to discover their methods because there was a group of more than 50 people though in Pistes-Solidaires, when we go to primary schools, there only 10 or 12 children.
After the first meeting we had had in December in Spain, we had already talked with CADIF about the possibility to create a new partnership within the frame of the French program: the International Civil Service. With this in mind, I have visited several partner organisations in order to understand what the volunteering opportunities for French youngsters could be, in addition to the ones proposed by CADIF. I have discovered a wide range of possibilities in the fields of environmental education, health prevention…
I have seen in CADIF an organisation that is well known in Kisumu and even beyond and able to work with different target groups, which was really interesting.
Needless to precise that I have also had some time to discover a little bit the country during my free time with the must-see national parl of Masai Mara!
Participate in this project has been really enriching for me, from a professional and personal point of view. I clearly see real opportunities of collaboration with CADIF for the youngsters we work with in our daily work.
