EVS activity in Spain

Project will take place in Lorca, a municipality and city in the autonomous community of Murcia in southeastern Spain, 58 kilometres southwest of the city of Murcia, and has about 90 000 inhabitants.

Volunteers will work in Cazalla Intercultural a nonprofit organization dedicated to the field of non-formal education and to promote and support volunteering. We work mainly with the ERASMUS + Programme. We have an agreement with the City of Lorca and collaborate with it´s Youth Department giving information to young people who want to travel abroad, and promoting mobility from Informajoven offices.

Our Objectives:

  • Create international networks with which to collaborate on global projects

  • Promote mobility as a learning experience among young

EVS ACTIVITIES

​Volunteers will be implementing the activities witin the program YOUTH EMPOWERMENT THROUGH LOCAL YOUTH WORK. The main objective is to support youth in their personal development, prepare them for the active participation in the society and equip with the competences to be Global Citizens.

During the summer Cazalla is organizing summer school for children and youth that stays in Lorca during the summer. Many of the youngsters are coming from the migrant families, which doesnt have enough financial resoursed to send their chidlren for holidays. Volunteers main task will be to collaborate in the organization of the summer school, by organizing different activities for them – English clases, workshops, artistic and cultural events etc.

Tasks:

  • The EVS volunteer will be helping in organizing workshops and courses for local community, leisure and educational activities for children and youth, and local projects with the objective of fighting integration difficulties of recently arrived migrants in Lorca.

  • The volunteer’s task will include coordination of the youth centre: organization of regular workshops for young people, administration of the youth centre in coordination with the youngsters, participation in the local initatives.

  • The volunteer will be encourage to realize his/her own ideas for projects connected with the theme of the project.

All volunteers should be also prepared to help us with the maintenance of the Youth Centre (max. 5% of the working hours) and tasks connected to it (cleaning, supporting in cooking, etc.)

ACCOMODATION and FOOD

Volunteers will be accommodated in the rented apartment with other EVSers, each person will have their own room, and kitchen, batchroom and living room will be shared. The appartment is just 5 minutes walking from the office and close to facilities like supermarket, bars etc. Each volunteer is responsible for preparing their own food.

LANGUAGE SUPPORT

 

Volunteers will be enrolled in the online language course, and besides they will be offer 2h per week Spanish course.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Volunteers will receive montly pocket money (105€), and money for food (150€) and they will be responsible for organizing their own meals.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS HOSTING PROJECT (a part form general requirements) 

Volunteer needs to be interested in work with young people, motivation and enthusiasm to cooperate with them. For this place there is a strong preference for a person that likes to come up with ideas.
