WHAT IS EVS

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a programme of European Comission within the ERASMUS+ framework that gives young people the opportunity to express their personal commitment through full-time voluntary work in a foreign country within or outside the EU.

The EVS aims to develop solidarity, mutual understanding and tolerance among young people, while contributing to strengthening social cohesion and promoting active citizenship. Their learning experience is formally recognized through a Youthpass . Volunteers receive free board and lodging, insurance cover and a grant for the duration of the project (in some cases they may be asked for a contribution for travel costs).

EVS volunteers working for more than two months abroad can get additional support to learn, and test their progress in, the language used during their volunteering.

Vacancies

Soon (may 2018) we will open new vacancies for volunteers from Spain, India, Indonesia, Thailand, France and Poland.

EVS with other partner countries of the world

EVS that you can implement in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and in general other partner countries of the world that has sign special educational agreement with EU, is nothing different then EVS in programme countries. The rules are the same – you receive the flat rate for the travel costs, you volunteer to learn and support local community, you have the same insurance and pocket money. What is different is the way to apply for this kind of project.

The EVS with the other partner countries of the world is being implemented within the action of ERASMUS+ called Capacity Building in the field of youth. Capacity-building projects in the field of youth cover a range of activities that encourage cooperation between organisations active in youth, education, training and other socio-economic sectors in Programme and Partner Countries from different regions of the world.

These projects aim to recognize and improve youth work, non-formal learning and volunteering and link them to education systems and the labour market. They also support regional and transnational non-formal learning mobility schemes to encourage the participation of youth in society.

That means for the EVS that it needs to be design in the way to fit into the general objectives of the Capacity Building action.

In 2017 there was one call for proposals, with the deadline in early March. If you want to read more about the action you can click here.
